Israel analysts: Weak US attack on Iran could spark retaliation against Israel

President Donald Trump said Saturday he's still considering military action against Iran after it downed an unmanned USA military aircraft, saying the use of force is "always on the table until we get this solved".

He said that stricter economic sanctions could help the USA topple the Iranian regime. While the Iranian map indicated that the UAV was in Iranian airspace, the U.S. map showed that it was in global airspace over the Strait of Hormuz.

Tensions entered a new stage since April when the US designated the IRGC (part of the Iranian military) as a terrorist organization, announced that it does no renew waivers for the eight major buyers of the Iranian oil, and started beefing up its military presence in the region, particularly in the Persian Gulf.

According to RT, the United States president also added that it was important to "start over" on the Islamic Republic, and rephrased his own campaign slogan, saying "let's make Iran great again".

Washington also requested a closed-door U.N. Security Council meeting on Monday.

Rohani announced the decision to surpass the agreed limit of enriched uranium on the first anniversary of Washington's exit from the deal - which U.S. President Donald Trump has called "the worst deal ever" - and the day the United States reimposed tough sanctions on Iran that have put great strain on the Iranian economy. "So, we want to be proportionate", Trump said.

Tehran has warned the United States of serious consequences for the entire Middle East if Washington moves aggressively against Iran amid escalating tensions between the two countries the shooting down of an unmanned US drone by the Islamic republic.

Therefore, he did not rule out Iranian attempts to provoke Israel by targeting its borders, in order to ignite a regional crisis that would push President Trump to quickly re-evaluate his sanctions. "Therefore, of course, we will have to take into account the interests of Iran". -Israeli security ties, said Trump was undermining USA credibility.

'You can't have nuclear weapons, ' Trump said.

Iran's destruction of the USA drone was the latest among ever more serious incidents in the Gulf region, a critical artery for global oil supplies, since mid-May, including explosive strikes on six oil tankers.

Trump did not mention Iran's downing of a USA drone or the retaliatory strikes he scrapped. Tehran said the aircraft had violated its airspace, while the U.S. insisted that the UAV was hit over neutral waters.

Iran has denied any involvement in those incidents, but world powers are calling for calm and sending in envoys for talks to try to lower the temperature of a dispute that is already helping push up the price of oil.

Iran said the US drone was a "very risky provocation".

But the USA pulled out of the deal a year ago and reinstated sanctions.

Washington has ramped up sanctions pressure on Tehran since past year and several violent incidents in the Gulf have been blamed on the rising tension.

"But hopefully they're smart and hopefully they really care for their people and not themselves, and hopefully we can get Iran back on to an economic track that's fantastic, where they're a really wealthy nation, which would be a wonderful thing", he added.

Relations between Washington and Tehran have gone into a downward spiral since May 2018, when Donald Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and reinstated all sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Trump told reporters Saturday that American oil and gas production is so large that the U.S.no longer depends on the Strait of Hormuz for oil transport.
