Bags Of King Arthur Flour Recalled For Possible E. Coli Contamination

The FDA is recalling more than 100,000 bags of flour.

The company has been informed that certain wheat used to make these lots of King Arthur flour has been linked to an ongoing outbreak of E. coli infections. It's important to note that ADM Milling was involved in the recall concerning Baker's All Purpose Flour sent to ALDI stores in several states.

The affected flour in the recall has six specific lot codes and three "Best Used by" dates.

So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

A brand of flour sold at retailers nationwide has been recalled over E. coli fears. Baking, frying or boiling will kill the bacteria, but consumers should also wash their hands, work surfaces and utensils after they come in contact with raw flour, the company said.

People who have bought any of the flour shouldn't it eat and should either throw the flour away or return it to where it was purchased for a refund, King Arthur Flour said.

As of this evening, the FDA still had not posted any information about what, if any, other companies received flour produced by the implicated ADM Milling factory.

Most healthy adults recover after a week with E. coli causing a diarrheal illness often with bloody stools. People usually get sick two to eight days after ingesting the germ, the CDC says.

Symptoms of E. coli infection include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. HUS is most likely to occur in young children and the elderly.
