President Trump visits the United Kingdom and Ireland

U.S. president Donald Trump has landed in Britain for his state visit, meeting foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt as he arrived on Air Force One at London Stansted Airport on Monday morning.

Trump continued the attack Monday, calling Khan a "stone cold loser".

The president was met by the U.S. Ambassador to Britain, Woody Johnson, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and other dignitaries.

Mr Trump has praised a more radical Brexit-supporting potential successor to Mrs May, and his envoys have urged a tougher British stance towards Chinese telecoms giant Huawei.

The move came after a newspaper column in which Khan said Trump did not deserve red-carpet treatment in Britain and was "one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat" from the far-right to liberal democracy.

Britain's relationship with the USA is an enduring alliance, but some British voters see Mr Trump as crude, volatile and opposed to their values on issues ranging from global warming to his treatment of women.

"London is now a city where young kids stab each other to death on a regular basis".

Trump is to arrive in London on Monday for a two-day whirlwind of pomp, circumstance and protests, including meetings with the royal family and an extravagant state dinner at Buckingham Palace.

US President Donald Trump saluted the honor guard as he walked on the tarmac after disembarking Air Force One at Stansted Airport, north of London.

He has already waded far into Britain's turbulent domestic politics, where more than a dozen candidates are vying to replace May, who announced last month she was quitting after failing to get her European Union divorce deal through parliament.

In January previous year, when Mr Trump said he had scrapped a planned visit to the British capital because he didn't want to open London's new USA embassy, Mr Khan suggested the real reason was because he wouldn't be welcome in the city.

"Trump also walked in front of her again!"

He is expected to use his meeting with United Kingdom prime minister Theresa May to ratchet up the pressure on Britain to cut ties with the Chinese tech giant Huawei over USA spying fears.

Writing in The Observer, Mr Khan denounced the USA president's state visit to the United Kingdom, which is due to begin on 3 June, as "un-British".

However, Ament said the Museum of London is planning to relocate in coming years to a venue that will have more space to house the 20-foot balloon-and which is expected to open in 2024, the year that Trump's presidency would come to an inevitable end if he were to win re-election in 2020.

A spokesperson for Khan later told reporters: "He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump's ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police―including armed officers―on the streets".
