Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Movie Is Being Written

Another rumour that dropped later suggested that Benioff and Weiss will be working on a Lord of the Rings style Star Wars trilogy, which only further strengthed the Knights of the Old Republic speculation.

According to Buzzfeed, the movie is being penned by Avatar, Alita: Battle Angel, and Shutter Island writer Laeta Kalogridis for Lucasfilm. There is also the fact that Disney already has two more Star Wars film trilogies planned, one from The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson, and another from the show-runners behind Game of Thrones. According to reports this week, BioWare's treasured Star Wars title is being turned into a movie.

This comes after Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy implied that a Knights of the Old Republic movie was being considered by the company.

It's also worth mentioning that Lucasfilm has shaken up how it is doing releases, which seems to be due to fears of oversaturating the market with Star Wars movies. The first woman to write a Star Wars movie since Leigh Brackett co-wrote 1980's The Empire Strikes Back with Lawrence Kasdan, Kalogridis is said to have joined Lucasfilm in the spring of 2018 with the intent to adapt the beloved IP. The news comes from BuzzFeed, who note that the scribe is nearly done with her work and there are already plans to turn it into a trilogy, granted the first outing performs well enough. She could be a lifelong KotOR fan who is the ideal choice, and I shouldn't write her off just because she's made some bad films.

Many believed that KOTOR would be the territory dealt with by Game Of Thrones showrunners Benioff and Weiss now that they've wrapped up their commitments with HBO, but clearly, this is not the case, if the report is to be believed.
