Final Fantasy VII Remake State of Play trailer, screenshots

Final Fantasy VII Remake State of Play trailer, screenshots

Way back in 2015, during one of Sony's best E3 presentations to date, Final Fantasy VII Remake was officially announced. It's hard to tell exactly how the game's going to play: There's a brief shot of Cloud shimmying along a ledge, and combat looks more action-RPG than Final Fantasy 7's classic turn-based system. For more information, visit its official website. Until then you can pre-order Final Fantasy 7 and stare at your receipt.

"[The game] will be reworked as a separate work, with numerous contents being reviewed when performing a full remake".

Folks like Cloud, Aerith, and Barret all play prominent roles in the trailer, and there's even a fair amount of English voice acting on display - which might give us some hope that the release isn't too far off. "More information will be published this June, so stay tuned". A legend at the end of the trailer also promised that Square Enix will reveal more about the game in June - presumably at the E3 Show.

We don't know about other platforms yet as the remake has only been announced for the Playstation 4.

The recent re-reveal of Final Fantasy 7 will surely provide a sigh of relief to fans who may have thought that the project was abandoned due to the deafening silence during its development. Square Enix said at the time that each part would be roughly the same size as Final Fantasy XIII.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is now in development exclusively for the PS4, but still lacks an official release date.
