Google Maps to offer more private navigation

Google Maps to offer more private navigation

Google maintains the Android Distribution Dashboard for its developers to see what versions of Android are in use all over the world, but these figures are available for everyone to see. The navigation bar at the bottom is extended with controls for music playback, for example, so that you can quickly jump to the next track. The idea with the technical preview is to get early adopters to try it out and provide more feedback.

Google also said users will be able to stop an alarm on their Google Home or display devices by simply saying the word "stop", rather than relying on the hotword, "Hey Google" at all times.

More frequent security updates is one of nearly fifty new features and changes in Android focused on security and privacy.

Most notable is the design change itself.

The new privacy control called "Incognito" is being offered by Google as tech companies face intensifying scrutiny over the amount of user information they collect and sell for advertising. Google claims that Android is powering over 2.5 billion active devices. While you'll still find a shortcut to trigger Google Assistant down there, there's now a dedicated notifications page to show all your latest alerts at a glance, as well as a dynamic row that presents actions and information based on apps running in the background.

Additionally, Google is also making its Assistant easier to use even if you don't have it connected to your car's display. Google has now updated the connectivity suite with new features and a revised interface.

This redesigned Android Auto design won't be immediately available, though. Finally, a new notification center puts every phone call and message in one place for the driver. The "Active Edge" technology, which summons Google Assistant by firmly gripping the sides of the phone will also make a comeback on the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL. Google sided with Verizon as its official launch partner but the device will also be coming to T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular. With Android Q, Google has also improved digital wellbeing.
