OnePlus CEO confirms new display technology for the OnePlus 7 Pro

"Excited to share the next product from OnePlus will unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth". Lau in his latest Tweet today revealed that the upcoming OnePlus 7 launch event announcement will be made on next Tuesday, on April 23. Not long ago, there was a much interesting report suggesting OnePlus 7 would be featuring its first 2K Display with refresh rates of up to 90Hz and also new stereo speakers as well. Then, CEO Pete Lau admitted that the OnePlus 7 Pro's display cost three times more to develop than usual.

OnePlus is all set to launch its next line-up of flagships smartphones. The company CEO posted a 4-second long teaser on Twitter that did not reveal much about the device but conveyed a lot of hidden meanings.

So far, the launch date of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro is a mystery. OnePlus has announced that a 5G capable handset is also in the works, so we can assume that it will be based on the 7 Pro when announced. As the official launch comes closer, new details about OnePlus' other two devices, dubbed as OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, have emerged online.

According to trusty leaker, Max, the OnePlus 7 Pro would indeed come with a triple camera setup. OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, is expected to come with a 6.64-inch curved display with a pop-up selfie camera. In fact, given that this is OnePlus we're talking about, we might even see an overkill 12 GB of RAM. Now, there are more details regarding the onePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7. The lights will be kept on by a smaller 3700 mAh battery (20W fast charge) but both phones will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. OnePlus 7 highest configurations will be 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

As per leaked renders, the OnePlus 7 may sport a waterdrop-style notch. There's also an 8 megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and F/2.4 aperture and an ultra-wide 16 megapixel with F/2.2 opening. Interestingly, the phone will also offer improved haptic feedback, thanks to a new vibration motor.

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 7 is expected to come with a 6.4-inch flat display and dual rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor.
