Musk tweets out another Tesla forecast in midst of SEC talks

Musk on Saturday disputed reports that Panasonic had boosted annualised battery cell production capacity at the plant to 35 gigawatt hours, saying the company's lines were only at 24 gigawatt hours and have been constraining output of Tesla's Model 3 sedan.

Tesla has announced it's ending sales of the $35,000 Model 3 online.

The auto manufacturer and Panasonic Corp had a plan to expand Nevada Gigafactory, however, the companies shared their plan of placing the expansion on hold, potentially causing further decline in Tesla share price.

There's no word on how the changes to the Model 3 line-up will affect the line-up in Europe. Motorists who buy a Standard Range auto can pay to upgrade to Standard Range Plus specification at any time. All these extras come at an added cost, of course. That's close to the price of the standard Model 3, $35000 plus documents and destination fee, with the full-self driving (FSD) package. "It now costs $39,500, with Autopilot included", Tesla said in a press release.

Customers that choose to lease over owning, however, won't have the option to purchase their auto at the end of the lease, because these leased EVs will be used by Tesla for its upcoming ride-hailing network. Tesla has started to offer vehicles bundled with autopilot, which increases the starting prices with $2000 at least. After selecting the version of the vehicle that they want, they need to choose a 10,000-, 12,000-, or 15,000-annual mile lease and make a down payment of at least $3,000. It said SR Plus has sold at more than six times the rate of SR, far exceeding its expectations. Otherwise, this vanilla version comes with a reduced range and a series of software lockouts like no live-traffic visualization for the navigation or seats-heating. SR customers will have the option to upgrade to an SR Plus at any time.

Tesla is also upgrading the FSD computer in all of its cars soon, and will even retrofit cars that have FSD with the new computer should the owner requests it. Electrek notes, however, that it's unclear if all cars are getting the new computer or not.
