Sarri wants Chelsea to buy Higuain but admits striker ‘needs to improve’

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says his squad is strong enough to handle their transfer ban.

Chelsea's appeal against the two-window transfer ban handed down by Federation Internationale de Football Association in February is set to be heard by the governing body's Appeal Committee on April 11, while the club also reserve the right to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if the ruling is upheld. We have a lot of young players who are really good and improving. So I'm not anxious about the market. No one can match his nine goals in that competition, though his start in midweek against Brighton - in which he scored his second top flight goal of the campaign - was his first in the Premier League this calendar year.

Sarri said the final weeks of the season would be tough, with away league games looming against Liverpool and United on top of their European commitments, and wants to keep his players as fresh as possible for the run-in.

"I have to consider that, in this moment of the season, we need to change", he added.

Giroud's contract expires in June but Chelsea have an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

The Blues signed Higuain on loan in January with an option to buy and he was expected to help fill the striker void, but he's managed just three goals in 11 appearances.

"Of course. He is the owner, and so he can influence the technical staff, the club, the players, everything I think".

"At the beginning of the season, Hudson-Odoi had great potential but wasn't ready to play in the Premier League".

"He [Higuain] has to improve physically and mentally and also that he will be useful for us in the last part of the season".

Asked if he thinks Giroud wants to stay at Chelsea, Sarri replied: "I think so".

"Then, at the same time, we are lucky because we have [Olivier] Giroud". We have to play very hard matches, especially away in the last part of the season but we only have to do our best and play to win.
