Jordan congratulates LeBron for overtaking him on all-time scoring list

In a historic moment against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night, LeBron finished strong at the rim to notch his 32,284th point on his career.

The reaction seemed fitting for a player who idolized Jordan growing up.

"A lot of stuff that I've done in my career, this ranks right up at the top (with) winning a championship", James said.

"For a kid from Akron, Ohio that needed inspiration and some type of positive influence, MJ was that guy for me".

"Wanted to be like MJ, wanted to shoot fadeaways like MJ, wanted to stick my tongue out on dunks like MJ, wanted to wear my sneakers like MJ". Doesn't make sense to meto be honest.Man it's insane!

The 34-year-old superstar matched the Chicago Bulls legend's career total of 32,292 points with his first 12 of the game, then made history with 5:38 remaining in the second quarter and sank a free throw to complete a 3-point play.

James got emotional on the sideline after passing Jordan, but quickly had to get back to chipping away at a double-digit deficit.

Next up for LeBron on the list is trying to catch Kobe Bryant. A minute later, he passed the Hall of Famer when he drove to the basket for a left-handed layup.

In NBA Finals, nobody has been able to match Jordan and his six MVP awards.

A few days earlier, James appeared in his 15th All-Star Game.

I still vividly remember that July night in 2010, when LeBron James, dressed in that red and white checkered button down told Jim Gray and the rest of the planet that he was South Beach-bound.
