John Bolton says Vietnam Summit was 'Unquestionably a Success'

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un returned home on Tuesday after traveling two and a half days by train from Vietnam, where his high-stakes nuclear summit with President Donald Trump ended without any agreement.

Last week, Trump and Kim met in Hanoi for their second summit to try to negotiate a deal on North Korea's denuclearisation but the meeting ended with the U.S. president walking away from the negotiations empty-handed.

Trump national security adviser and disgraced nonsense-peddler John Bolton was on the Sunday shows today to defend his idiot boss from the widespread perception that his summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, which was cut short amid accusations from both sides, was a failure.

He said it may have been "a new low in American politics".

The South Korean president urged his aides to carry out South-North cooperation initiatives that were agreed to past year by the two Koreas in the Panmunjom Declaration and Pyongyang Declaration, without naming any specific projects.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in urged his top aides on Monday to quickly prepare for inter-Korean cooperation projects after last week's second summit between North Korea and the United States collapsed, saying improving inter-Korean ties can help talks between Pyongyang and Washington move forward. On another positive note, Moon said Trump and Kim didn't bash each other after the summit, but instead, highlighted their mutual trust and expressed a willingness to continue talks. He deepened his relationship with Kim Jong Un.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, took issue with Bolton's response.

"He's not desperate for a deal, not with North Korea, not with anybody if it's contrary to American national interests", Bolton said.

Although Trump did not say exactly how the Cohen hearings affected the summit, he said, "Such things are never done when a president is overseas".

South Korea's Defense Ministry dismissed concerns that the reorganization of exercises will hurt military readiness.

An example of that non-traditional diplomacy was formally unveiled Sunday when South Korea and the US announced they would not conduct massive springtime military drills and were replacing them with smaller exercises.

"That facility, while very big, it wasn't enough to do what we were doing", Trump said last week in Hanoi, referring to Yongbyon.

Trump and Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said they couldn't accept the proposal from North Korea to shut down the Yongbyon complex in return for complete sanctions relief because the regime still had hidden production facilities and missiles elsewhere that could threaten the US.

Nonetheless, the Trump administration chose to cancel joint military exercises with South Korea in a showing of good faith toward North Korea.

"Trump, you have screamed no collusion and no obstruction of justice so many times, trying to influence others, that I think you really believe your own lies".
