House Dems to Probe Trump's Allies, DOJ in Wake of Cohen Testimony

Committee chairman Jerrold Nadler said the investigation will be focused on obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power.

Nadler's committee aims to determine whether the Republican president obstructed justice by possibly offering pardons or tampering with witnesses and by ousting perceived enemies, such as former FBI Director James Comey. Lastly, Collins commented on Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's newest anti-sematic remarks on Israel.

Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg, whom Cohen implicated in multiple crimes last week during testimony he gave to the House Oversight Committee, is on the list.

The request asks American Media for "all documents that relate to the purchase of rights for any narrative, personal account, documentation, recording, or photograph (including but not limited to materials colloquially referred to as "catch and kill") concerning Donald Trump from June 2015 to the present".

For months and months, we've been told the following - and not without good reason: (1) The House Intelligence Committee's Russian Federation investigation is hopelessly partisan and beset with intense infighting. While the tax panel has not asked for the documents yet, lawyers for the committee have instructed other panels to help make the case to the public about why the forms are essential to investigating the president. He said there would be more requests, which might involve additional people. "That's what we can say".

While most high-ranking Congressional Democrats have indicated that impeachment is far off and now not even on the table, it is clear that Nadler's expansive investigation has been launched with the goal of uncovering evidence that the president committed criminal, impeachable offenses.

The committee is sending requests to 81 people linked to the president and his associates.

Representatives for the White House and Justice Department said the document requests were being reviewed.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement Monday before Nadler officially sent the list of requests that the White House had received its letter from the committee.

"Over the last several years, President Trump has evaded accountability for his near-daily attacks on our basic legal, ethical, and constitutional rules and norms", Nadler said in announcing the beginning of the probe.

The announcement of the new investigation follows a bad political week for the president.

Cobb, a Georgetown University law school alumnus and native of Great Bend, Kansas, says Mueller is a "very justice-oriented person". I think Bob Mueller's a guy that you know even though he came from an, arguably, privileged background, you know, has a backbone of steel. Cobb says there's no link to Trump or the campaign in an indictment against Russian hackers and says there's "no reference to collusion" in a sentencing memo for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Many of Trump's top advisers in his first year in office were on the list, including Steve Bannon, longtime spokeswoman Hope Hicks, former Press Secretary Sean Spicer and former White House Counsel Don McGahn.

"They're setting a whole new course because there's no collusion so they want to build something else", he told ABC.

Cohen's testimony offered a number of tantalizing leads about hush-money payments he made on behalf of the president in evasion of campaign finance laws, possible conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, and the extent to which Trump was aware of illegal activity going on within his campaign.
