Idrissa Gueye asks to leave Everton?

British soccer gurus Everton have refused to release Senegalese star Idrissa Gana Gueye to France's top of chart Paris Saint-Germain ending hopes for a stronger midfield, sources said Monday.

The report indicates that the 29-year-old has written a letter to his employers, but he has fallen short of handing in a transfer request.

In the latest twist of events, Thomas Tuchel's side are now reportedly facing some serious competition from Arsenal and City for the Senegal global.

Should he make the move to PSG, it will likely see Gueye play in the Champions League for the first time since leaving Lille, but he is running out of time for the move to be completed.

However, he was absent from Everton's squad in their recent 1-0 victory over Huddersfield, with rumours circulating that was down to his looming departure.

"It's good for us as a club and for me as a manager", Silva said of Gueye staying at Goodison Park.

"After the match, I tried to find out if something new has happened because I expected your question and there's nothing new". He had a minor problem in his groin.

"We have rejected the offer", Silva told reporters at a news conference on Monday.

"The board never told me the deal would be done or not".

"I know the market is open until 31 January and it's always tough for us but about the new offer, £30 million, nothing came true".

"I asked 10 minutes ago if there was something new, but there is not".

"He added: "(The players) being low on confidence and then conceding a goal and then coming back with chances and having possibilities to win the game made me really proud".
