PSG forward Timothy Weah joins Celtic

He becomes Brendan Rodgers' third signing of the January transfer window following the loan arrivals of Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah.

Now attention has reportedly turned to the other end of the pitch, with the club said to be closing in on three defensive recruits.

Weah wrote: 'Blessed and honoured to be joining this unbelievable club on a 6 month loan deal.

The 22-year-old impressed for Indiana Hoosiers at college level in the U.S., named TopDrawer Soccer National Player of the Year.

"We're a team that plays an aggressive and attacking game, and I felt that was an area that we were short in, in terms of our options".

He could soon be joined by compatriot Manny Perez. A deal to sign American left-back Gutman was agreed last night and he's set to return to Glasgow to finalise details of the transfer. He now plays for North Carolina State University.

Celtic are also chasing a long-term replacement for Mikael Lustig, with Olympiakos' Norwegian right-back Omar Elabdellaoui on a list of targets. Elabdellaoui, now at Olympiakos, is expected to cost around £4m.

There could be more business done this month as the Daily Record claims that the Gers have launched an attempt to bring in Derby County midfielder Craig Bryson.

Celtic are set to sign United States starlet Andrew Gutman less than a month after he was offered a contract by league rivals Rangers.

The bhoys go into the second half of the season, top of the league with a game in hand having already won the League Cup and progressed in Europe.

Matt Polster is here and we are continuing to evaluate on that one.

However, Atalanta want £10m for the player, who is also being chased by Lazio.

Rodgers said: "Youssouf came in as a support player to the team, but he's at the age where he needs to play in the next part of the season, so he'll probably go out on loan".
