Juventus Reject Arsenal's Offer of Swap Deal Involving Midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Italian football journalist Nicolo Schira is reporting that The Gunners proposed a swap deal involving Ramsey and Juventus centre back Medhi Benatia, which was subsequently rejected by the Italian club.

Ramsey has entered the final 12 months of his current deal at Arsenal, and was free to engage any European club interested in his services as of Tuesday, January 2.

But now Arsenal believe they can do without him, and unless the supporters are able to force Emery to change his mind, Ramsey will be off in the summer.

The midfielder is set to leave at the end of the season once his deal expires.

Per several reports in Italy, the Wales global has signed a pre-contract with the reigning Serie A champions, Juventus. Benatia initially signed on loan from Bayern Munich in 2016, before making a permanent move to Juventus.

"At the moment he is working with us and I think yes [he will stay until the end of the season]", the Spaniard told reporters.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia earlier in the week, Juve sporting direct Fabio Paratici confirmed the Old Lady's interest in the 28-year-old.

However, the decision to withdraw the offer for Ramsey means that he will be departing north London after a decade, where he scored two FA Cup winning goals and made over 350 appearances.

Liverpool have also monitored Ramsey's situation, but the Anfield outfit can not speak to Ramsey until June 1 due to regulations prohibiting players from entering talks with other English clubs until the final month of their contract.

But if Juve, Bayern and Liverpool are so keen to fight it out for Ramsey, who has been a solid servant for Arsenal since arriving from Cardiff City as a teenager in 2008, why has Emery already written him off as being surplus to requirements?

"At left or right wing, perhaps one player can help us in this position".

"He [Ramsey] is an excellent player, he has been playing at a high level for many years and plays for a great team".
