North Carolina Democrat suddenly WITHDRAWS his concession

The state Republican Party's executive director told Griffin that he vomited after watching the news reports about potential election fraud in two key counties involving a paid GOP operative and illegal "ballot harvesting".

Amid the developments, U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said the House "retains the right to decide who is seated" and could take the "extraordinary step" of calling for a new election if the victor isn't clear. But the GOP now finds one of its own candidates at the center of the biggest alleged election fraud in recent memory. In Bladen County, Dowless employees told local television station WSOC and BuzzFeed News that they collected absentee ballots from people and gave them to Dowless, which violates state law.

North Carolina's 9th District race is the only undecided House race of 2018's midterm elections.

Entertaining the idea of a new election represents a significant change from last Thursday, when state GOP Chairman Robin Hayes issued a statement saying: 'Democrats are throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, at the wall to try and steal an election.' On Sunday, Hayes said there weren't enough questioned ballots to change the race's outcome, and the next day he accused a Democratic member of the state board of 'score-settling'.

Harris leads by 905 votes, but the state's elections board refused to certify the results after allegations of absentee ballot irregularities emerged.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, when asked Thursday about allegations of election fraud in North Carolina's 9th District, said deciding whom is seated is up to the House itself, not an outside authority or state election board. His support included a complaint by Dowless, a political operative and convicted felon, who claimed there was voting fraud in Bladen County, in the state's southeast.

It was close, but North Carolina Republican Mark Harris was jubilant on election night.

"The House Administration Committee will have full investigative authority to determine the victor of the election", Pelosi added.

However, he said that if the outcome would not have been changed, the Republican candidate should be certified the victor.

"The U.S. Constitution states that the House is the judge of the "elections" and returns" of its members and the final arbiter of contests. A new election may well be the only way for the GOP to save this seat ... if that's possible after this debacle, even in a district with an R+8 Cook index. He has not returned CNN's requests for comment.

McCrory, the Republican governor at the time, made his voter-fraud claims later that year after losing to Cooper.

Pittenger's concern stemmed from the vote tallies in rural Bladen County, North Carolina, where his challenger, a pastor from the Charlotte suburbs named Mark Harris, had won 437 absentee mail-in votes.

Republican leaders say Harris, a Southern Baptist minister, should be certified the victor, saying no evidence has been made public that show he didn't get the most lawful votes. The second witness on numerous absentee forms Boyd signed was Lisa Britt, who told BuzzFeed she worked for Dowless.

He recalled concluding that Harris had won the overall vote with a strong showing from evangelical voters, but he said: "We did not look real specifically at absentee ballots".

At issue is who can handle completed ballots. "It controls who can be seated in the Congress".

"If they can show a substantial likelihood it could have changed the race then we fully would support a new election", he said.
