Police give all clear after bomb threat at NY offices

CNN was forced off the air late Thursday night after a bomb threat was phoned in to the cable news channel's New York City offices in the Time Warner building.

The NYPD has confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation in the area and West 58th between 8th and 9th is closed.

Communications tweeted that a bomb threat was phoned into the company's NY office.

Several fire alarm bells rang inside CNN's NY newsroom, signaling an evacuation after the call was received shortly before 10 p.m., the company's security said.

The call came in after 10 p.m., and the news network briefly switched to pretaped programing, before cutting to live shots of newscasters, employees and onlookers standing behind police barricades outside the building.

"Employees have been evacuated and the NYPD is investigating", they added.

Police searched thoroughly the evacuated building and found nothing to substantiate the threat and later gave the all clear. "Due to the threat, the office has been evacuated". When programming returned, a taped version of Anderson 360 began broadcasting.

"There has been a bomb threat phoned into the CNN offices in NY", tweeted the official CNN public relations account. Earlier in the night, Trump had lambasted the "fake news media" on Twitter as well, falsely claiming that reporters don't mention the Republican midterm gains in the Senate.
