Samsung, Verizon will release 5G smartphone in early 2019

A move to triple rear cameras, in-display fingerprint readers, and an innovative alternative to display notches will most likely allow the upcoming series to stand out from the competition, though it remains to be seen how well it actually ends up performing.

Samsung Will Launch Its First 5G Smartphone By Next Year Jointly With Verizon - Report.

"At Samsung, we have a vision of a connected world powered by 5G that will benefit consumers, communities, industries and governments", said Justin Denison, senior vice president, mobile product strategy and marketing, Samsung Electronics America. T-Mobile is now in the process of deploying its own mobile 5G network, and there's every reason to believe Verizon and AT&T are quietly doing so as well at this point.

Verizon's 5G service will go live in early 2019, says the company.

When companies make a new phone they want accessory manufacturers to provide accessories for their devices and as such often give CAD measurements to them to allow for ideal fitting accessories.

The race to 5G is ramping up.

Slated for release sometime in the spring of 2019, this mystery phone will be the second 5G-capable device on AT&T's network, alongside the mmWave Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot, which should be coming out later this month. Verizon's current 5G deployments use their proprietary 5G TF technology. Unlike the 5G talks during last year's Snapdragon 845 announcement, this year 5G is much closer to becoming a reality. The three of them are conspiring to bring a 5G phone to market in the U.S. next year but the only date commitment they will make is the first half of the year.

Verizon already has a working 5G commercial service, 5G home, which was launched in October in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento, with a "rapid expansion" on the cards.

Earlier this fall, AT&T teamed up with Samsung on the first 5G Innovation Zone to test business use cases for 5G.The goal is to use 5G to enable new capabilities with the Internet of Things (IoT) and to better understand the impact of 5G. What we do know is that the 855 will probably power the bulk of next year's high-end smartphones (because what else would?).
