Nintendo's Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sales Top $250 Million

Nintendo's Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sales Top $250 Million

The Cyber Monday deal applies to the base** Nintendo Switch system with either Gray Joy-Con controllers or Neon Red and Neon Blue Joy-Con controllers. That's a 45% improvement over the same period a year ago.

Also aided by strong November 22-26 sales, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system surpassed lifetime sales of 2.5 million.

According to the latest press release from Nintendo, Switch sold more units from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday than any console in Nintendo history, beating out Wii's previous record.

US shoppers provided a nice boost to Nintendo's balance sheet last weekend.

Still, the current Switch sales number is nothing to scoff at.

The $250 million figure refers to all of Nintendo's products, so not just Switch but also the Nintendo 3DS, the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition and Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition retro consoles, and all Nintendo-produced games and accessories. Ultimate in December, but would the Switch, still priced at $300, really be able to compete with $200 PS4 and Xbox One bundles?

This Nintendo Switch boon has pushed the console to 8.2 million units sold in the U.S.so far. Switch hardware sales grew 115 percent compared to the same period in 2017, presumably in the US only.

Elsewhere, the SNES Classic surpassed 2.5 million in lifetime sales over the holidays, while the NES Classic eased past the 2 million sales mark. To check out the Nintendo Holiday Gift Guide and see what Nintendo has to offer this holiday season, visit https://happyholidays.nintendo.com/.
