Video Captures Border Patrol Agent Sparking Arizona Fire

The video shows an explosive-laden package standing in a dry, grassy field, with the words "boy" and "girl" painted on it.

He has to pay more than $8 million in restitution, starting with a $100,000 initial payment and monthly payments thereafter, authorities said.

In the video, which was taken by a party attendee and later released to The Arizona Daily Star, the sound of a gunshot is heard before the target explodes. You can briefly see a cloud of blue - it's a boy! - before the grass around the target quickly goes up in flames.

Dickey reported the fire immediately and admitted igniting it, the US Forest Service said.

The incident, which happened in April 2017, resulted in 800 firefighters being called as the fire burned for nearly two weeks.

Dickey filled the target with Tannerite, a highly explosive substance which is legal but very powerful.

Dennis Dickey, a border patrol agent from Tucson, pleaded guilty in September to a misdemeanor violation of U.S. Forest Service regulations.

Dickey's sentence also included five years of probation.

"I feel absolutely awful about it. It was probably one of the worst days of my life".

Following the court case, local news outlet the Arizona Daily Star submitted a Freedom of Information request to find out the gender of the baby, which, until now, hadn't been revealed to the public.
