49ers Linebacker Reuben Foster Arrested in Tampa, Charged With Domestic Violence

Foster remained in jail as of Sunday morning following an arrest for domestic violence at the 49ers' team hotel in Tampa Bay. Foster was arrested by Tampa police at 9:10 p.m.at the Grand Hyatt hotel where the team was staying before playing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team has announced its plan to release him Monday.

The San Francisco 49ers made a decision to stick with Reuben Foster after he was accused of domestic violence earlier this year, but that will not be the case in the wake of the linebacker's latest arrest.

According to the arrest report, the 28-year-old victim said Foster knocked the phone from her hand, pushed her and slapped her in the face with an open hand. Officers observed a one-inch scratch on Ennis' left collarbone, according to the police report.

Investigating officers learned that Foster and the victim had lived together in the past and were in an on-again, off-again relationship over the past three years, the release says. His attorney argued that Foster is gainfully employed, that the alleged victim is an ex-girlfriend with whom he does not reside or have children with and that a prior domestic battery case involving the same alleged victim was dismissed.

The #49ers are releasing LB Reuben Foster, their former first round pick who is still in jail on another domestic violence charge.

Ennis later recanted her story during a court hearing, telling a judge that she concocted the story in an attempt to ruin Foster's career because she was angry at him.

Earlier this year, he faced similar domestic charges, which were ultimately dropped. "But, if that's something that we felt he did or ended up happening, you guys will see how we feel". I wasn't there, but too many things have happened.

'I feel strongly about that.

This is not Foster's first run-in with the law since joining the 49ers past year.

Foster had missed the team's previous two games with a hamstring injury and was listed as questionable to play against the Bucs.

"That doesn't mean we don't love him", Lynch said.

Meanwhile, the weapons charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and Foster pleaded no-contest to that in June.

He had a diluted urine sample that triggered a failed drug test at the 2017 NFL combine and landed him in the league's substance abuse program before his career even began.

Foster was sentenced in July to two years' probation, 232 hours of community service, and $235 in fines.
