Facebook, Instagram outage affects users worldwide

Facebook and Instagram have been hit by a service outage as some users around the world report being unable to access the social networks.

About half of those who reported crashes on Instagram, 47% indicate problems with downloading news feeds, 32% can not log in to their accounts, 20% say the app is not working. "We're working to resolve the issue as soon as possible".

The independent monitoring site Downdetector showed a map indicating outages affecting most parts of the world, especially in North America, Europe and Asia.

While the site seemed to come back slowly as the morning went on, posts on social media (those that weren't Facebook and Instagram, of course), showed that when their social media goes down, the internet just can not handle it.

The hashtag #FacebookDown trended on Twitter.

"The issue has since been resolved, we are back to 100 per cent for everyone, and we're sorry for any inconvenience".

Both platforms along with Messenger experienced similar outages last week.

In the meantime, Twitter is popping today and it's mostly because people can't write lengthy diatribes on Facebook or goof off in one of their private group boards.

Neither Facebook or Instagram has commented on the cause of the issue.
