Arsenal's Danny Welbeck suffered 'significant' ankle injury against Sporting

Danny Welbeck appears to have picked up yet another serious injury.

His second opportunity saw the England worldwide head straight at Renan Ribeiro, but the striker landed badly on his ankle and left the field on a stretcher.

"Danny remains in hospital and will continue to be assessed".

Danny Welbeck of Arsenal lies injured during the Europa League match at the Emirates Stadium. "He's in hospital now and we'll see what happens", defender Rob Holding said.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has become the first Arsenal player in more than three years to win the Premier League Player of the Month award.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 19 matches against Wolves in all competitions (W16 D3) since a 3-2 defeat in September 1979 under Terry Neill.

"It's true that I was hoping to score soon, because I came back late from the World Cup and after I lacked a bit of efficiency and luck sometimes", he said.

"We knew it was going to be tough considering we played them away and it wasn't easy, so we expected a hard game again", Iwobi told Arsenal website after the game.

Welbeck fractured his ankle in an ugly incident against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday. Welbeck was available for sale in the summer, Arsenal had not offered him a new contract and likely are not planning to do so. But when the match finishes, the first thing they did was ask for him.

"He's wealthy boy now, it's nothing to do with that, but for his mental well-being. It's getting to that boiling point and I don't think he was there tonight".

"Injury to #Welbeck. Possible fracture dislocation of ankle which could [be] career ending", Wilson wrote on Twitter. "Will need [to be] imaged #AFC".
