Destiny 2 being handed to PC users free today through November 18

The giveaway is to mark the game's one year anniversary on PC, with the game being free indefinitely for anyone who downloads the title in this window. Bungie and Activision announced at BlizzCon that Destiny 2 is free to download and play on PC, though you have to act relatively fast-it's a limited time offer that expires in a couple of weeks.

Destiny 2 got off to a rocky start but the game has definitely recovered in the months since its release. If players add the game to their account by then, you'll own the game permanently.

Hailing September's well-received Forsaken expansion, Cotton says the game is in a much better state now than when it launched, and that "we saw a lot of new faces this year" come to Destiny 2.

New Battle.net accounts created after 11:00 a.m. PDT on November 2 will be required to enable Blizzard SMS Protect before claiming their free Destiny 2 copy.
