CONFIRMED - Celtic's League Cup Final Ticket Allocation

Rangers are smarting after being knocked out of the Betfred Cup semi-final by Aberdeen at Hampden Park on Sunday, but their home form this season has been impressive.

Gers dominated at Hampden but, with top scorer Alfredo Morelos suspended, they lacked a cutting edge as frontman Umar Sadiq was handed his first start.

"I thought our performance in general (against Aberdeen) was pretty strong but there wasn't enough quality in the final third and we got done by a classic sucker punch against the run of play".

The former Liverpool captain added that the side want to "make supporters happy again" and the way to do that was winning. We got ourselves in front, somehow, I don't know how but when we did I expected us to go on from there.

But a 1-0 loss to Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup meant a big chance for silverware has slipped away.

"But my belief and confidence in the players hasn't changed because of the weekend".

"It's a warning", he said. If these players don't step up, it's very simple at a big club: "the manager goes and finds better quality". On Sunday, Aberdeen's two best players were Ferguson and Mikey Devlin, who both came through the ranks at the Lanarkshire club.

Kilmarnock, managed by Gerrard's former Liverpool colleague Steve Clarke, travel to Ibrox three points and three places ahead of Rangers.

"The business I am in, it is cut-throat, it is brutal", said Gerrard at a recent press conference. "And he's got a good team and good players. But I think this game, more than any, is about what we do".

As well as that, there's the six point deficit to Hearts in the league that the staff and players will want to be far lower by the time the final rolls around.

We've not had an Old Firm final for a good few years so it would have been incredible to be involved in that.

"That is not to take anything away from the players who went to Ibrox a year ago and put in a really gutsy performance and managed to nick a 1-1 draw".
