NY police respond to 'suspicious package' in Manhattan

New York City police say a suspicious package was discovered in the Tribeca area of Manhattan in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The device at De Niro's restaurant appears to be connected to the ones sent to Democrats yesterday, CNN reports. "Any guy who can do a body slam... he's my guy", Trump said. Gianforte pleaded guilty to that incident.

The package sent to Hillary and Bill Clinton's property in Chappaqua, New York was found by an employee who screens their mail.

The package has markings similar to the pipe bomb packages recently mailed nationwide to top Democrats, the sources said.

The official said another package addressed to Biden was also found Thursday morning, that one at a postal center in New Castle, Delaware.

X-ray images show that the package addressed to De Niro contains a device similar to the pipe bombs found in other packages this week that were addressed to prominent critics of Trump, the two sources said.

The NYPD says the device was taken from 375 Greenwich Street in the Tribeca neighborhood around 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

In addition to its appearance, the package also had the same return address as the others: that of Democratic Rep. FBI Public Affairs Specialist Dave Fitz told CNN agents were "responding with our law enforcement partners to a US Postal facility in DE".

Authorities found bombs this week intended for at least seven officials, including Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters.

All of the targets are frequently criticised by right-wing activists. Authorities warn additional packages could have been mailed to other locations and they're on the lookout today for more. Two packages were sent to Waters, who Mr Trump has called "an extraordinarily low IQ person".

After initially calling for unity, Trump went on to blame the media for the surge of pipe bombs sent to high-profile Democrats.

Trump said that in his view, the media held some responsibility for the current political climate of division and distrust between Americans.

Wasserman Schultz said in a Wednesday statement, "We will not be intimidated by this attempted act of violence". Democratic House and Senate leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer both said that conciliatory talk sounds "hollow" coming from Trump. Debbie Wasserman Schultz as the return address. She is the former chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee who was accused by Clinton rivals of secretly helping the party's eventual presidential nominee.

John Brennan: The "live explosive device" was delivered by courier to CNN offices in NY.

Former CIA Director John Brennan, the target of one package sent to CNN, fired back.

Several politicians, including USA senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, described the package bombs as an act of terrorism. Those contained "potentially destructive devices", according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. An official said it was suspected to have been delivered earlier this week.
