Major outage Tuesday prompts outcry on social media — YouTube goes down

The issue was reported by people around the world including India, United States and United Kingdom.

YouTube fans were forced to go cold turkey this morning when a major outage prevented viewers from accessing the streaming site for more than an hour.

YouTube servers are now up and running again according to the video giant.

Some users were met by an "internal service error" message.

We hope that the issue gets resolved soon enough but for those who are left stranded with this massive outage should check out these YouTube alternatives for watching videos.

The company has since issued a statement saying YouTube is back. This took YouTube offline, and the sudden, global deluge of traffic also choked the ISP.

YouTube had said it was "working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed. We apologize for the problems you are facing".

Some users from around the world also stated that the mobile-based app of YouTube wasn't functioning.

Last month, photo sharing application Instagram was not working, leaving millions of its users to unable to log on to their accounts. YouTube remained inaccessible for over 30 minutes, and enraged users flocked to social media to vent out their anger and frustration.

There is no word yet on when YouTube service will be restored.

The outage affected YouTube, YouTube TV and YouTube Music. This was in a period of one hour, while the regular average was not more than 10 in an hour. However, at the end of the day, it's a digital service, and issues can crop at any time.
