Israel halts fuel deliveries into Gaza amid deadly clashes with Palestinian protesters

Six Palestinians were martyred in new clashes along the Gaza-Israel border on Friday, the health ministry in the Hamas-run enclave said. Israel said its troops had shot and killed a group who broke through the fence with a bomb and attacked an army post.

With the latest deaths, the number of Gazans killed since the border protests began on March 30 has reached 200, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Tamer Abu Ermanah, 27, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers east of the town of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, he said.

Israeli army spokesman Jonathan Conricus said around 20 Palestinians had crossed the border in an "organised attack" after an explosive device destroyed a portion of the fence.

Top Palestinian official and member of Fatah, Ahmad Majdalani, said the party remains suspicious of the Qatari role in meddling in the affairs of the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas.

Palestinians in the northern West Bank say a woman has been killed after being struck in the head by a stone thrown by Israeli settlers.

According to Qidra, another 50 Palestinians were injured by live ammunition fired by Israeli troops deployed along the other side of the buffer zone.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the circumstances of the incident but footage of the vehicle, which a Reuters cameraman said bore Palestinian license plates, showed what appeared to be a blood-stained broken brick at the foot of the passenger seat, which was covered in shattered glass and blood stains.

The majority were killed during border demonstrations, though others have died in airstrikes and tank shelling.

An Israeli soldier and a bystander were injured in a stabbing attack in the West Bank.

The protesters are demanding to be allowed to return to lands now inside Israel, from which their families fled or were displaced during the 1948 war surrounding the creation of the Jewish state.

However, thousands again gathered Friday in sites along the border, AFP correspondents said.

They are also calling for Israel to end its crippling blockade of the strip.

Since March, Hamas has orchestrated near-weekly protests along the fence.
