With Jay Ajayi Done, the Eagles Should Trade for Le'Veon Bell

As if things couldn't get worse for the 2-3 Eagles, running back Jay Ajayi was placed on injured reserve Monday with a knee injury that ESPN's Adam Schefter reported is a torn ACL.

Adding a running back the caliber of Bell or Johnson would give the Eagles offense a much-needed boost.

It would be a homecoming of sorts for McCoy, who spent his first six seasons in the National Football League with Philadelphia. However, a recent report indicates that they are not planning to pursue a trade for the Steelers' disgruntled star.

And Shady hasn't slowed since, registering three Pro Bowl seasons in three full years in Buffalo.

The team was fairly cap strapped, but with Fletcher Cox's contract reworked, the Eagles now have about $11 million in cap space, according to Spotrac.

McCoy has two seasons remaining on his deal.

Jay Ajayi's lasting memory from the 2018 season will be fumbling inside the five-yard line in a 23-21 loss to the Vikings. Furthermore, Darren Sproles has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury and Corey Clement, who is expected to play this week, missed the last two games with a quad injury.

The Eagles have reached out to the Bills about a possible trade for LeSean McCoy, per source.

Adding either Johnson or Bell would take a serious hit to the Eagles payroll this year and beyond.
