Cubs-Brewers Set For National League Tiebreaker

The title-winning Red Sox, Indians, Astros and Braves will advance to the postseason along with the Brewers, Cubs, Rockies and Dodgers plus the Yankees and Athletics, the two American League wild-card teams.

The Brewers, meanwhile, are off until Thursday, when they will host the victor of that wildcard game in the opener of the NL Division Series. We'll here's someone to settle you down: Jon Lester.

The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers will meet on Monday to decide the National League West title.

On Monday, the Brewers beat the Cubs 3-1 to claim their first NL Central title since 2011. Sunday's game will be played on MLBN.

This is the Rockies second postseason berth in a row after making the playoffs a year ago for the first time since 2009. In Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, Lester appeared in relief of Kyle Hendricks in the fifth inning and pitched into the eighth, allowing just one earned run while striking out four with just a walk. The American League Division Series will begin the next day with the Yankees-Athletics victor at the Red Sox and the Indians and Astros meeting in Houston.

Yet those defeats are distant memories for Cubs' players, many of whom weren't even in the league when they occurred. The victor will also receive home-field advantage against the NL East champion Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series.

It's a criss-cross kind of trip and it's one that the Rockies hoped they weren't going to have to make.
