Jimmy Butler is already changing his mind about trade destinations

That came in a report from Marc Stein of the New York Times in which he cited National Basketball Association sources.

Jimmy Butler #23 of the Minnesota Timberwolves talks to the media during NBA All-Star Media Day as part of 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center on February 17, 2018 in Los Angeles, California. A Heat spokesman told the Sun Sentinel recently they would not address speculation, but Miami looks like a major player in the Butler sweepstakes.

While head coach Tom Thibodeau seems reluctant to make a deal, it's still possible that something could be done in the next few hours, so we have a few trade ideas in mind to make this 3-team deal go down smoothly.

Butler averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists last season for Minnesota, which made the playoffs for the first time since 2004.

Butler requested a trade before the start of training camp.

Thibodeau recently indicated the Timberwolves do indeed intend to trade Butler, "but we're not going to do a bad deal".

Minnesota shipped several of its' young assets to Chicago - Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and the draft pick that became Lauri Markkanen - to acquire Butler.

"So far, there's been no team close to willing to meet Thibodeau's massive return for a Butler deal", ESPN reported.

Reports have indicated that Miami has been aggressive in negotiations since Butler announced his desire to be traded, even as he left the Heat off his initial list.

Butler was allowed to not participate in media day by Wolves management and ownership reportedly wants him out.
