England players rip into each other during heated half-time inquest against Switzerland

Marcus Rashford's back-to-back goals for England are a just reward for the player's excellent mentality, according to manager Gareth Southgate.

The pair could make their senior bows on home turf tomorrow as the King Power Stadium plays host to a friendly against Switzerland.

England got the new season back on track with their first win of the campaign.

Marcus Rashford scored in consecutive matches for the first time in his worldwide career as England returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Switzerland in Leicester.

After an exciting summer of World Cup action and a creditable narrow defeat to Spain in their opening UEFA Nations League game over the weekend, "dull worldwide friendly" service resumed for Gareth Southgate's England as they took on Switzerland at the King Power Stadium.

The England vs. Switzerland friendly will be live on Sky Sports Main Event. Butland's work with the ball at his feet had neither early on and, although he responded with a couple of decent saves, he had unhelpfully set the tone for a poor display that had to be rescued by half-time tweaks. The Manchester United youngster took advantage of a rare opportunity to play the majority of the game as the central striker in Harry Kane's absence, by scoring the only goal of the game on 54 minutes. We always encourage them to have a voice. We wanted to finish the game strongly.

After being pegged back, Switzerland struggled to reimburse the first half dominance that almost saw them surge ahead. And we gave the ball away too cheaply.

"It was quite calm by the time I got in there".

"It's not been a flawless week by any means but we finish with a win, which is important moving forward", said Southgate.

"We were trying to correct one or two things but also challenge them a bit, it was an important night for us to finish well and we knew it would be hard because of the changes and amount of game time, but I'm really pleased because the players have given everything this week". It's important as a group to get a win against a top10 team.

'It was going to be tough mentally to switch back from the World Cup to these games, physically for all the players, and with two tough games to play.
