Dems need Mueller probe to go on and on and on

Giuliani's comments came just hours after Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, espoused a belief in an expansive view of executive powers and declined to say whether a president can be subpoenaed and forced to testify.

"I think we're pretty close to an agreement, maybe this weekend", he told the news outlet Thursday night about the likelihood of an agreement for written answers about alleged collusion between the campaign and Russian Federation before Trump took office.

However, Giuliani's recent statement is the most definitive rejection yet of special counsel's efforts to interview the commander-in-chief.

Democrats have been gearing up to the day when Trump fires Mueller, with reports in liberal media regularly suggesting that the president is either about to, or has been narrowly talked out of doing so.

Despite calling Mueller's sweeping probe a "witch hunt", Trump has repeatedly said he wants to answer any and all of his questions. Trump has also denied any campaign collusion.

There is an internal debate brewing within Trump's personal legal team regarding an in-person interview with the special counsel.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that Mueller has agreed to accept some written answers from Trump regarding the Kremlin's interference in the 2016 election.

"There will be no questions at all on obstruction", Giuliani told the Associated Press this week.

The stance leaves open whether Mueller might decide to subpoena Trump for the testimony, which would nearly certainly lead to a legal battle before the Supreme Court. "Show us why you didn't get there the first time".

Mr. Trump has said he knew nothing about the meeting before it happened.

Attorney Rudy Giuliani said he and Mueller's office are close to an agreement that includes written testimony, but sticking points remain. "We aren't going to let them spring it on us", he said. The probe's opponents slammed it as judicial overreach, and Trump himself has always been calling the entire investigation a "witch hunt".

In fact, Trump's lawyer, John Dowd, resigned in March after the POTUS' aggressive approach on the investigation and willingness to have a one-on-one interview with Mueller despite his warnings.
