4 dead after active shooter opens fire at bank in downtown Cincinnati

A motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Perez's family members could not be reached Thursday.

Security footage from inside the lobby showed him firing while carrying a briefcase containing hundreds of rounds of ammunition over his shoulder.

The shooting rampage began at 9:10 a.m.at the Fifth Third Bank on Walnut Street, authorities said.

Numerous people called 911, and four armed officers arrived at the center's exterior 55 seconds after the first call, Isaac said.

The police added the victims had no connection to each other. There were people screaming "shooter!".

Fountain Square is often the site of concerts, dancing, food trucks and other events around lunchtime or in the evenings.

Police did not say much about Perez. Records indicate that Perez had lived at times in Florida and SC.

The 29-year-old has been living in the area since at least 2015.

An Indian youth was among the three people who were killed when a gunman opened fire at a bank in the U.S. state of Ohio.

"This should never be a normalized thing".

"We couldn't be more grief-stricken", he said.

A witness told the Cincinnati Enquirer he heard as many as 15 gunshots during the morning incident.

"Random mass shootings, which plague our Nation, are not normal and we as a Country can't allow them to be normalized. We have to put human lives before ideology".

A news conference was planned for Thursday morning.

One was a longtime construction worker who was working in the building.

"It's such a tragedy", Cotter said. Cook said she and two other employees hid in the bathroom for the duration of the shooting.

Officials with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office confirm they are currently searching the home of the now-deceased gunman at his home in North Bend, Ohio. "This could have been a bloodbath beyond imagination", Deters said.

Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac said investigators have searched Perez's apartment but had not found any evidence to report.

Leonard Cain told The Cincinnati Enquirer he was going inside the bank when someone alerted him there was shooting. He said a woman, who was wearing headphones, didn't hear the warnings and walked into the bank and was shot.

The gunman was shot multiple times as four police officers approached him and he died at the scene.

Police told the FOX 19 that they are still sweeping the building but it is secure. It wasn't clear immediately if the shooter was one of them. "We're a bit rattled". "Square and surrounding area will be closed to foot traffic", police wrote.

One of the victims died at the scene and five other people are believed to have been injured in the attack. The wounded were listed there in critical condition and fair condition. Each had gunshot wounds, officials said.
