Miller, whose real name is Malcolm James McCormick, had struggled with substance abuse in the past.

Singer Ariana Grande deactivated the comments on her Instagram account after the death of ex, Mac Miller. One song, "Hurt Feelings", was released as a promotional video to help promote Miller's latest album "Swimming", which was released early last month.

Miller spoke about their breakup in a July interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 on Apple Music, calling the intense scrutiny he faced "stressful". The tour was scheduled to begin October 27.

His most recent album Swimming also garnered positive reviews, reaching number three on the Billboard 200.

Miller told Noisy that he started abusing drugs when he was just 15-years-old, and that he had a serious issue with Lean, otherwise known as purple drank or lean drink. She also responded to a fan who blamed her for the incident which occurred just weeks after their split, revealing that Miller's struggle with sobriety was "toxic" for their relationship.

Fellow Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa and others sent their thoughts to Miller and his family shortly after the news broke Friday.

He continued releasing successful albums and mixtapes and in 2014, he signed with Warner Bros.
