Louis C.K. Performs For First Time Since Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Louis C.K. has performed stand-up for what appears to be the first time since admitting to sexual misconduct in November 2017.

He appeared at around 11pm and dressed in a black V-neck shit and gray trousers, performed a set of 'typical Louis C.K stuff, ' including racism, tipping waitresses and parades, Noam Dworman, the owner of the Comedy Cellar, told the Times.

In November of previous year, five women came forward in the pages of The New York Times about how the comedian masturbated in front of them.

But does Louis C.K. deserve a meaningful redemption as a comedian?

One audience member called the club on Monday to object to the surprise set, the owner said. The social standards about how to respond to errant behavior are inconsistent, he said, and now shifting ever faster, and audiences should have the leeway to decide what to watch themselves.

In a statement, C.K. admitted to the misconduct. His production deal with FX Networks was cancelled, and his to-be-released film I Love You, Daddy was shelved indefinitely.

'There can't be a permanent life sentence on someone who does something wrong, ' he said.

Louis C.K. went on to say that he is "remorseful" and has "tried to learn" from his irresponsible behavior.

CNN has reached out to Louis C.K.'s representatives for comment. The notion that he could so easily return to doing "typical Louis C.K. stuff" - and that this could even be normal, or fine - is so myopic that only a comedian could've come up with it.

Others were a little more explicit in their feelings of what C.K.'s return means to the #MeToo movement. I care about my customers very much.

Others pointed out that comics who were accused of stealing jokes, like Dane Cook (who was of accused lifting from C.K. himself, which they acknowledged on "Louie"), faced longer backlash than C.K. did for masturbating in front of women without consent. Every complaint goes through me like a knife.

"Will take heat for this but people have to be allowed to serve their time and move on with their lives", Black said.
