Drake pays surprise visit to 11-year-old girl awaiting heart transplant

Drake made a young fan's wishes come true when he visted her in hospital in Chicago over the weekend.

The three-time Grammy-winning artist visited Sanchez on Monday afternoon at Lurie Children's Hospital, where she is awaiting a heart transplant. Drake captioned an Instagram post of the two of them, "Me and my love Sofia talking about Bieber and Owls and Basketball". For her birthday, she had two wishes: a new heart and a visit from her idol, Drake.

The Toronto, Canada native, who played at the United Center in the Windy City on Saturday, visited Sofia - after she posted an online clip doing The KiKi Challenge from the medical facility with her cousin, while hooked to an IV. I did the Kiki challenge.

"Thank you Drake for coming to see me, it means a lot for you to come and cheer me up", Sanchez said in the statement.

"When you come here, I can show you".

After undergoing open heart surgery earlier this month, Sanchez took park in the #KikiChallenge and recorded herself dancing to the star's hit "In My Feelings" while getting out of her wheelchair. She was particularly inspired by Drake's music video for "God's Plan", in which he donates money and gifts to people in the Miami area.

"I just had surgery three weeks ago".

The children's hospital wrote online that Sanchez was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a condition which makes it hard for the heart to pump blood and can lead to heart failure, according to the Mayo Clinic.

He also posted a second snap of Sanchez sitting on her hospital bed and wearing a hat from his new Scorpion merchandise.
