Mistakes hit United's confidence - Mourinho

United boss Jose Mourinho warned in the summer that his side faced "a hard season" if they did not strengthen before the transfer window closed.

"Don´t expect me to speak with you about it because you and your colleagues were really critical when in previous seasons I was too honest, too open analysing players performances", added Mourinho.

Mourinho responded by telling Sky Sports: "You can have a fantastic movie while respecting others". I know you can not always play very, very good.

Mourinho made some pointed references towards City when asked about the new fly-on-the-wall documentary about the Premier League champions that was released by Amazon earlier this week.

United once again played 90 minutes in which they failed to string together 10-15 minutes of impressive play, as Brighton picked up its first three points of the season.

I don't think its right that City have dragged up interviews with Jose and De Bruyne, obviously that was a mistake.

In a press conference before I said that in November or December you will have an idea who can compete for the league. We did it for ourselves.

Guardiola, however, insists that "buying class" is not something City were attempting to do in the project.

United's hard offseason, notable for the grumpiness of coach Jose Mourinho and the club's struggles in the transfer market, was briefly forgotten about thanks to an opening-day 2-1 win over Leicester last week.

"Liverpool are trying to win the title with their incredible investment".

"I just think the price of the centre-half he wanted, they would have looked at it and thought 'we're paying over the top, we're not going to do that".

"Maybe we didn't have the attitude to break them, to kill them when we had to kill them and to go through the lines".

'Another goal could have changed things again but our second goal arrived too late.

Only four teams managed to win at Brighton last season and it will be a hard place to play this season, too.

"The result is the right result for them and the wrong result for us". Two minutes later they doubled their lead thanks to Shane Duffy who took advantage of a mistake by the Red Devils defence. We have to wake up for the next game and definitely not play like we did.
