Akshay Kumar’s movie strikes Gold with Rs 25.25 crores on Day 1

However, the next day brought a drastic dip for both the films as it was a working day.

Gold has therefore become Akshay Kumar's best first day performer. Along with John Abraham, Satyamev Jayate stars Aisha Sharma, Manoj Bajpayee and Amruta Khanvilkar.

Box office collections might actually not be as catastrophic as they are made out be. The combined collection of the two movies is Rs 125 cr. The film collected Rs. 10.26 crore more on Sunday and that has allowed the overall haul to stand at Rs. 56.91 crore. The Akshay Kumar starrer is expected to cross the Rs 100-crore mark this week. With their mammoth first day collections, the films together had beaten the highest opening day record in the Hindi film circuit, which belonged to Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 40 crore net collections.

Gold saw a massive opening, hoarding Rs 25.25 crore on the initial day.

It released with John Abraham's "Satyameva Jayate" and the movie is one of the biggest releases of the month which is set to have a free run considering it has little to no competition from "Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi", "Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se" and "Stree" which will hit the theatres in the coming weeks.

While Akshay's Gold had released on 3,050 screens in India, John's action drama was released on 2,500 screens.
