Arsenal coach Unai Emery: Stan Kroenke takeover of club is 'positive'

Arsenal coach Unai Emery: Stan Kroenke takeover of club is 'positive'

Emery said Welbeck will not be available for selection for their opening league match against Manchester City on Sunday but that he remains part of his first-team plans.

Emery has overseen a number of departures since taking over from Arsene Wenger, including long-serving midfielders Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla.

Emery told Football365.com: "Yesterday, the window closed here in the Premier League".

"But the other players are with us and we are going to work at the Emirates the day before the match with all the players", he added.

The 46-year-old replaced Arsene Wenger in May and, with a trip to Chelsea six days later, Emery could not have wished for a more hard start to life in England.

"It's more easy to speak here than to do it on the pitch".

"But we are starting a new way, a new process with the same players and the new players, the new coaches".

However, Emery is a coach famed for his tactical nous and attention to detail, with Carragher reckoning that it will be a very different Arsenal we see in the Premier League this season - even comparing the Gunners boss to master tactician, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez.

Arsenal have been busy in the summer transfer market and brought in five new players ahead of the Spaniard's first season in charge as they look to try and challenge for the title next season. To continue working I want one thing because it's very important for the players to take confidence in our work, in ourselves. For that, we are working this week and preparing for this game and preparing for the opposition against City as a collective and as individual players.

Unai Emery is now at the helm, after the club supposedly interviewed 10 candidates before landing on the former PSG manager.

The manager also insisted that Stan Kroenke's full buyout of the club should be deemed a positive thing.

"I think that Guardiola's coaching is clear in this team", said Emery.
