Vacationing Chrissy Teigen caught in earthquake that shook Indonesia

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told Nine Network television he will call Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Monday "to offer all the Australian assistance that can be made available".

The model, along with singer-husband John Legend and their two children, felt the shaking on neighboring Bali on Sunday. "People filled the streets", said Michelle Lindsay, an Australian tourist. A short-lived tsunami warning has ended.

The aftershocks unnerved Teigen, too.

On Lombok, thousands fled from their homes to gather in emergency shelters in open spaces, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said.

According to the US Geological Survey, the magnitude 7.0 quake struck early on Sunday evening at a depth of 10.5km (6 miles).

"The police officers there were kind", he said, though the airport was chaotic with a lot of people.

It was the second quake to hit Lombok in a week. The island was already reeling from a magnitude 6.4 quake on July 29, which killed 16 people.

An Indonesian official says at least three people have been killed after a strong natural disaster struck the popular tourist island of Lombok.

An quake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale slammed Northern Lombok on Sunday evening, killing at least 82 people.

Seawater entered two villages as high as 10 cm and 13 cm (4-5 inches), Dwikorita Karnawati, head of the agency for meteorology, climatology and geophysics, told local TV. However, an initial warning of a tsunami with waves of up to half a meter was later withdrawn.

The deadly quake was 31 kilometers (19 miles) deep and struck near Loloan on the north end of Lombok.

At least 82 people were killed when Indonesia's resort island of Lombok was hit by a powerful magnitude 7.0 quake on Sunday, triggering widespread panic as thousands fled their homes for emergency shelters as buildings collapsed.

Bali's worldwide airport suffered damage inside the terminal but the runway was unaffected and operations had returned to normal, disaster agency officials said.

The United States Geological Survey slightly downgraded Sunday's quake after initially calling it 7.0-magnitude.

"All New Zealanders in Lombok are advised to register their details on safetravel.govt.nz, follow any instructions issued by the local authorities and let their family in New Zealand know they are okay".
