Flight MH370 was turned around manually

Families of passengers on board missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 said on Monday that an investigation report released to them had no new findings on the reason for the plane's mysterious disappearance.

The findings, released yesterday by the Malaysian government, stated that the Beijing-bound aircraft's sudden change of course 37 minutes after it took off from Kuala Lumpur was "difficult to attribute" to a system failure.

A 440-page final report by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) previous year showed that Zaharie had flown a route on his home flight simulator six weeks earlier that was "initially similar" to the one actually taken by MH370.

Chief investigator Kok Soo Chon said the cause of the disappearance can not be determined until the wreckage and the plane's black boxes are found. No one survived the flight, which was carrying passengers of 14 nationalities...

Investigators should probe deeper rather than relying on regurgitated data, says Maira Elizabeth Nari.

Investigators funded by the Malaysian government today said that psychological evidence they gathered disputes the popular theory that captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, or a colleague, may have intentionally killed himself and everybody else on board.

Officials said Monday's report is still not a final report, since the plane has not been found.

The largely technical 400-page report also said "the team does not exclude the possibility of intervention by a third party". The report said there was insufficient information to determine if the aircraft broke up in the air or during impact with the ocean.

In all, 27 pieces of aircraft debris have been collected from various places around the world but only three wing fragments that washed up along the Indian Ocean coast have been confirmed to be from MH370.

"I'm so happy for the fact that he is cleared but at the end of the story we want the plane or wreckage to be found", she told the media after attending the briefing report by the Malaysian International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for MH370 here today. Despite a massive search in the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea, the wrekage of the plane has not been found.

Meanwhile, Intan Maizura Othaman, wife of steward Mohd Hazrin Mohamed Hasnan on MH370, said she was "surprised, mad and shocked" as the investigation team failed to answer questions by the next-of-kin during the briefing. The leader of the investigation, Kok Soo Chon, said at a news conference, "We are not of the opinion that it could be an event committed by the pilot".

The "rogue pilot" theory still arises in public discussions despite Malaysian authorities saying there was no evidence linking Zaharie or his co-pilot, Fariq Abdul Hamid, to any wrongdoing. This included seven "manually programmed waypoint coordinates" that when linked could fly from the Kuala Lumpur airport to the southern Indian Ocean, but police could not determine if the coordinates were found in a single file or from different files, he said. Boeing has such technology to foil plane hijacking but hasn't used it on any commercial planes, he added.
