George Clooney injured in a vehicle accident in Italy

George Clooney injured in a vehicle accident in Italy

The actor was taken to hospital after he was hit by a auto on the Italian island but is expected to make a full recovery. Clooney, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his scooter and flew 20 feet in the air.

It happened Tuesday morning in Sardinia.

The Ocean's Eleven actor hurt his leg when a Mercedes vehicle allegedly turned without giving right of way and collided with his scooter, Italian press agency AGI said.

He was treated and released, hospital officials said.

Clooney is a Northern Kentucky native.

A picture from La Nuova shows a smashed windscreen, which suggests George hit it during the crash, but despite this, his condition is not thought to be serious. People also reported that the driver did not "respect the right of way" when cutting across Clooney's path, resulting in the accident. "He is recovering at home and will be fine", a source told the Daily Mail.

An ambulance later took Clooney to the nearest hospital, according to Cicognani.

Earlier this year, actor Will Ferrell was caught up in a two-car crash in California. Clooney has since been released and will resume filming in a couple of days, per CNN.

Clooney is filming the "Catch-22" Hulu series (based on the Joseph Heller novel) on the Italian island ― and he was apparently on his way to the set.

George and Amal Clooney just donated $100,000 to help migrant children separated from their parents. The accident took place in Sardinia, Italy, where the actor is now filming his upcoming TV show, Catch-22.
