Serena Williams Says Breastfeeding Didn't Make Her Lose Weight

Serena Williams Says Breastfeeding Didn't Make Her Lose Weight

Williams told the Daily Mail she'd planned to only breastfeed for three months, but kept going until Olympia was 10 months old.

"When it was 5-5 I started thinking about those match points on my serve at 40-0".

The American, who missed last year's tournament while pregnant with daughter Alexis Olympia, proved she had lost none of her old warrior skills as she overcame gusting winds and a tumble on Court One's manicured lawn on Monday to outclass tricky opponent Arantxa Rus 7-5 6-3 in the first round. "Then she had her nap".

Williams, who wore a stunning catsuit at the French Open in tribute to mothers who have had hard pregnancies like her, added: "I wanted to say that so women out there know that's not true". In between all of the winning, she's busy being a mom to her 10-month-old baby girl. What I've learned is that every body is different - no matter how much I worked out, it didn't work for me. I literally sat Olympia in my arms, I talked to her, we prayed about it.

It helps that her husband Alexis Ohanian is a fixture in her player box.

While the Centre Court crowd clearly appreciated the sight of Williams in full flow, they also took a shine to the plucky Tomova who battled hard to make a match of it.

"I feel it was something I was born with".

"I wanted to say that so women out there know that's not true". In an interview with Forbes, the player described the role of food in his life: "As an athlete, [food] became something more-the fuel that determines how I play, how I recover and how alert I am on the court..." "I don't like to be satiated with a great result". "I just want to see the sport rise, not just women or men, but tennis in general".
