Samsung 2019 schedule: hold off on that Galaxy Note 9

Samsung 2019 schedule: hold off on that Galaxy Note 9

The Galaxy S9 has some great Android alternatives out there - ironically, majority are iPhone X clones. And that's not a surprise, considering that Samsung has copied the iPhone extensively over the years. The Korean giant's projections for Q2 2018 missed analysts estimates as sales fell 0.7 percent, a drop that's been attributed to the stagnant smartphone market and weaker-than-expected sales of the Galaxy S9.

In January, reports claimed that Samsung was looking to set the Galaxy X launch this December or early 2019. The device might make it to the market in March 2019. In other words, the Galaxy S9 is a Galaxy S8s if you will.

"It's a bit disappointing", Ko Gyeong-beom at Yuanta Securities Korea told AFP, noting the company had posted expectation-beating operating profits for several quarters. The S9 has reportedly sold the lowest of any Galaxy phone since the S3 released back in 2012.

Sales are estimated at 58 trillion won, down 4.9 percent from 61 trillion won a year earlier. It is not hard to imagine the reasons why Samsung is expected to experience a awful quarter, because according to analysts, the reason for the drop in profit is lackluster Galaxy S9 sales.

The Korean technology giant said Friday it expects its operating profit last quarter dropped by 5.4% compared with the previous three months, to 14.8 trillion won ($13.2 billion)-the first such quarterly fall for nearly two years.

The report suggests that the Galaxy X will pack a large battery setup.

The iPhone X's weaker performance also affects Samsung's bottom line, as its Display division is the sole provider of those expensive iPhone X OLED panels.
