U.S. And Russia To Announce Details On Trump-Putin Summit

There has been high anticipation for a possible meeting between Trump and Putin, as the two nations seek to mend relations that have soured since the former took over from Barack Obama.

The main theme of negotiations of Bolton in Moscow, is expected to be the preparation of the meeting of the presidents of the United States and Russian Federation, which could take place in the coming weeks.

A senior USA official, speaking to Reuters on the condition of anonymity, said the White House was already looking at Finland's capital, Helsinki, as the likeliest place for Trump and Putin to meet, but it was Bolton's visit to Moscow that could decide the matter. The two leaders are expected to meet again over the summer.

Hawkish US envoy John Bolton was received in Moscow with top honors, a lunch hosted by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov followed by a markedly courteous meeting with Putin at the Kremlin.

The summit will include one-on-one talks between the presidents and conclude with a joint news conference, Ushakov said.

He said he did not rule out Trump discussing Russian Federation rejoining the G7 to make it the G8 again.

Asked whether Russian Federation should be part of the G7 group of most industrialized nations, Pompeo said Trump should speak for himself, adding, "The president deeply believes that having Russian Federation be part of these important geostrategic conversations is inevitable, and there's a long history of that".

A spokesperson for the Russian president told reporters Wednesday's meeting would focus on "the sorrowful state of our bilateral relations".

Ties between Washington and Moscow have been strained by the wide-ranging probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign as well as the poisoning case of a former Russian spy. "I think it will be the main global event of the summer".

Moscow denies meddling in the US election and Trump denies any collusion took place. -Russian relations are at a low point and offered his opinion that this was mostly a function of American political infighting. "I've said from day one, getting along with Russian Federation and with China and with everybody is a very good thing". "The president recognizes there may be some criticism of this decision to have the meeting".

That comment came at a summit which ended in sharp disagreement between Trump and his G7 allies.
