Humiliated Holders Germany Out Of The World Cup At The Group Stages

Humiliated Holders Germany Out Of The World Cup At The Group Stages

Germany are now second in Group F after their surprise 1-0 defeat by Mexico in their opening World Cup match on 17 June and their dramatic 2-1 victory over Sweden on Saturday.

World Champions, Germany are in action today against South Korea and we will be running updates of the game concurrently with the Mexico versus Sweden game.

All four teams had a chance to advance in games that were being played simultaneously and Sweden's comprehensive lead over Mexico put Germany into prime position to advance as well - provided the Germans could score against the South Koreans. They started their campaign in spectacular fashion, stunning defending champions Germany 1-0.

Ben Jacobs added: "As a proud Englishman, hurt so many times at World Cups, isn't it bloody fantastic to see Germany and Argentina so rubbish at the same tournament".

Rather than be mentally worn out by the turnaround against Sweden, Brandt hopes Germany can use it to their advantage when they take on South Korea in Kazan on Thursday (AEST).

Both of these teams are defensively strong, so expect a cagey affair, but the key difference will be the attacking qualities that they both possess and whether they can express themselves in the game.

Football fans are in for a double dose of World Cup drama on Thursday. It's unacceptable to have threats of violence and racism, we are against that as one and made a very clear stance.

It was the second time in Germany's storied World Cup history that it had failed to progress from the group stage.

Sweden's midfielder Jimmy Durmaz (L) and Sweden's midfielder Sebastian Larsson (R) react at the end of the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup Group F football match between Germany and Sweden at the Fisht Stadium in Sochi on 23 June 2018.

"If we have the system it's very unfortunate that (the referee) doesn't feel he can go and have a look".

Full back Fagner believes the pressure is a result of their own spectacular showing leading up to the tournament, a period in which they lost only one match in 21, scoring 47 goals and conceding just five.

As we explained in our previous guide for how to watch the World Cup 2018, it's easy to tune in to these channels even if you don't have a satellite or cable TV package.
