According to the paper, the victims were attacked as they left an internet cafe in the middle of the town.

Witnesses were quoted as saying that at least one attacker was armed with an automatic weapon.

The shots caused screaming among bystanders but police quickly said there was no reason for the public to worry.

The police refused to comment on the identity of the possible attacker or attackers, who they said fired the shots from a auto or a fixed location.

Malmo is located in the south west of Sweden and is the first port of entry for those travelling across the Oresund Bridge from Denmark.
