Along with updates on characters, Nintendo gave fans a look at a whole bunch of returning stages from past games, some of which have received a much-needed visual update. Take your Arsenal, a fully customizable powered suit, out for an array of missions to surmount the enemy at all costs.

Nintendo stumbled with the Wii U, but its follow up console/portable hybrid has been a hit. Even Smash Bros. unique controls, deep while ignoring inaccessible commands, are a shining example of one of my core gaming values that arbitrary difficulty is overrated.

A large part of that, as Trinen explained, comes from the ways that Ultimate will bring "core change to the core mechanics", such as speed, movement, animation, and more, and players as a result will have to "re-learn every character" compared to previous iterations in the series. All Nintendo characters, including some new ones, plus iconic past additions like Solid Snake and Cloud are coming back this year in the long-awaited Switch brawler.
