Service dog gives birth to puppies in Tampa International Airport

The Tampa Bay Times reports 2-year-old golden retriever Eleanor Rigby went into labor at Gate F-81 and birthed eight puppies - seven males and a female.

And yes, the two women have since missed their flight to Philly.

"I've never seen anything like this in an airport, or otherwise", she said. Eleanor Rigby, a golden retriever service dog, was about to board a plane to...

Tampa Fire Rescue documented the exciting moment, posting pictures and video on Twitter. It was not immediately clear where in the Philadelphia region Van Atter lives.

Van Atter said people from all over came over to help, and thankfully she had packed towels just in case. "She was going up to people and saying hello". "Every time she's ready to deliver another one he starts jumping around".

A round of applause - and a few barks - echoed through the terminal after Puppy 8 (a girl!) was successfully delivered.

The puppies aren't allowed to fly for another eight weeks so Van Atter said she will drive home with them.

Finally, they all made their way into the world, one by one, and got cleaned up on a black and green blanket, before they could snuggle up to their mom.
